Chapter 986
âW ho do you think you are, Hadjar Darkhan?â Patriarch Hashim no longer looked like a good-natured old man, but rather, like a furious warrior. âWho are you to come to our home and destroy the monuments of our ancestors? To take up arms against my disciples? Who gave you the right to violate the laws of hospitality?â
Hadjar wanted to leave. By the High Heavens, he wanted to turn around, pick up Akena, use the wooden dagger given to him by the ShukâArka tribe to cut through the protective dome, and then fly back to Dahanatan more than anything. It was the easy option, at the end of which Morgan, who had shown his true colors, would condemn him to a fate far worse than death â watching all the people who were dear to him burning in a funeral pyre.
âThereâs only one law in this world, you old fool!â Hadjar swung his sword and a blue streak of energy flew out from the blade. A gale of blue wind burst forth from the streak, destroying several temples that stood on different mountain peaks, connected only by wooden bridges. âAnd that law is power!â
Hadjar didnât believe what he was saying at all. But if he had to be the âvillainâ tonight and dishonor himself for ages to come, then so be it. If he had to spill the blood of the innocent, heâd drown in it. He was too weak to defy the Emperor of Darnassus, who couldnât be disobeyed even by the one person whoâd been able to destroy the Forbidden City with a single attack. Hadjar finally understood what Orune had known all alongâ¦
âYou bastard!â Someone in the crowd shouted. âI donât know what sort of artifact you used, but Iâll kill you!â
A pillar of energy struck the sky. A wave of force moved the disciples to the side. One of the sectarians rushed toward Hadjar, shrouded in light that took the form of a tiger. The Fist Barony spread out around him as multiple steel spheres connected together jangled on his chest. Blue tattoos shone across his torso, and a blue light flooded his eyes. The four dots he had on the top of his head marked his rather high position. He also wielded Imperial level artifacts â two gauntlets that were so massive they turned his fists into hammers. With a single blow that created a wave of flames in the process, he incinerated the remnants of the Moon Gates, as theyâd been in his way.
âNo!â
The white light emanating from Hashim was pushed away by Hadjarâs Duchy. He wasnât a saint. He wasnât even a hero, regardless of what Paris thought about him. Hadjar was a monster. He was a monster who hadnât yet met another monster that could defeat him. Or the real hero who was destined to destroy him... If such heroes even existed in this cruel world. As the Mad General, for the sake of Lidus, Hadjar had spilled the blood of the innocent.
